Crane Lifting Superintendent (1 Position)

Reports to: Maintenance Manager

Role Summary

The Crane Lifting Superintendent is responsible for the safe management and supervision of all crane and lifting operations on site, ensuring compliance with company standards, procedures, and Tanzanian regulatory requirements. The role focuses on safety, efficiency, and operational excellence in all lifting activities.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Ensure all cranes and lifting devices are in safe working condition and formally commissioned on arrival.
• Develop and maintain crane lift logbooks, lifting equipment registers, pre-starts, and inspection records.
• Supervise crane operators and riggers, including shift rosters and manpower planning.
• Generate and coordinate lifting schedules in alignment with site and subcontractor activities.
• Ensure all lifts follow company policies, design limits, and safety standards.
• Assist with maintenance scheduling, breakdown management, and spare parts planning.
• Conduct pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, and participate in HSE committee sessions.
• Train, mentor, and assess personnel to improve lifting competency and safety awareness.
• Implement contingency plans and ensure readiness for emergency situations.

Qualifications / Experience

• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in crane operations or lifting management, preferably in mining or heavy industry.
• Valid Heavy Combination (HC) and Heavy Rigid (HR) truck licenses.
• Certified in Construction Crane Operations (CCP2312).
• Intermediate rigging accreditation and dogging license.
• Strong planning, organizational, interpersonal, and ethical standards.
• Fluent in English.
• Must be able to develop local staff.
• Flexible, proactive, and able to work in a dynamic operational environment.
