Nyati Minerals Sands is seeking a qualified Health, Safety and Environmental Officer to join its operations in Pangani, Tanga. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring occupational health, safety, and environmental compliance across company operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain OHSE policies and standards.
- Provide guidance and support to safety representatives.
- Conduct employee safety training and coaching.
- Coordinate daily, weekly, and monthly safety meetings.
- Support implementation of ISO 45001:2018 management systems.
- Conduct workplace inspections and safety audits.
- Participate in incident and accident investigations.
- Monitor implementation of safety recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with Tanzanian Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
- Conduct environmental monitoring and improvement programmes.
- Develop and implement environmental management plans.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Health and Safety Management or related field.
- ISO 45001:2018 OHS Management System Certification.
- Risk Management and Accident Investigation training.
- Tanzania OSHA NOSCH I & II certification.
Experience
- 3 to 4 years of experience in health and safety within a mineral processing plant environment.
Skills and Competencies
- Knowledge of OSHA, Mining Act, Explosives Act, Mining Regulations, and Environmental Act.
- Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment.
- Incident and Accident Investigation.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proficiency in English and Kiswahili.
- Valid Tanzania Driving Licence.
