HSE Manager (Health, Safety & Environment)

Key Responsibilities

• Policy & Training

  • Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Conduct weekly safety meetings and on-site HSE training for staff.

• Risk Management

  • Inspect and ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Identify potential hazards and implement corrective and preventive measures.
  • Conduct regular site patrols and safety audits.
  • Provide professional recommendations for safety improvements.

• Site Management

  • Ensure the mining site and all work areas are clean, safe, and well organized.
  • Enforce compliance with site safety rules and procedures.

• Health & Incident Management

  • Oversee employee health matters, including medical arrangements and health check-ups.
  • Manage work-related injuries and incidents.
  • Prepare, document, and submit accident and incident reports.
  • Communicate effectively and negotiate with workers on HSE-related issues.

• Stakeholder Liaison

  • Act as the focal point for HSE matters.
  • Coordinate site visits and inspections from government and regulatory bodies, including:
    • Mines Bureau
    • Fire Department
    • Environmental Bureau
    • OSHA
    • Local government authorities and community representatives

Requirements

• Proven experience in Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) management, preferably within the mining or industrial sector.
• Strong knowledge of Tanzanian HSE laws, regulations, and OSHA standards.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage HSE operations on-site.
